101

1969. The end of a decade remarkable in so many ways. The Cuban Missile Crisis. The Civil Rights Movement. Beatlemania. Political Assassinations. The Pill. The Canadian flag. The moon landing. The war in Vietnam. Protests. Feminism.

Donna Lambert, age 21, is a naïve university student and new wife whose values and beliefs are about to be challenged, perhaps shattered. How will she survive her personal new reality that mirrors the incredible pace of change seldom seen before in human history?

Thrust into the complex lives of her teenage students in downtown Toronto, her fledgling marriage to a man she’s wed after six whirlwind months, and memorable relationships with good and not-so-good colleagues, Donna has to grow up fast. She must confront the real world of unfairness manifesting in workplace gender and sexual harassment. She is forced to make startling discoveries, if she is to survive in this human stew.

Sally Walker’s 101 is based on her own experiences (a decade of her life in Toronto and in Goderich, Ontario) and will resonate with anyone who has ever experienced the feelings of, “How on earth did I ever get myself into this stinking mess?” to “Life is very good, indeed.” And everything in between.
